Who this bat suits
A high sweet spot sits well up the blade, which is where the ball arrives on pulls, cuts and anything short of a length. On pitches with pace and bounce, that is a real advantage. The lighter weight band here — 2lb 6oz to 2lb 9oz — is unusual for a Kahuna and makes this a quicker bat through the line than the profile normally suggests. Good for a batter who values hand speed and placement over sheer weight behind the ball.
Understanding Grade 3.1
Grade 3 willow shows fewer straight grains and more natural colour variation than Grade 1 or 2. That is cosmetic. The playing performance of the willow is genuine English willow performance, and the saving over an elite-grade bat is substantial. For club and league cricket it is the sensible choice.
Knocking-in
This bat needs knocking-in before facing a hard ball. New English willow is soft, and its fibres have to be compressed gradually — typically six to eight hours across several sessions. Skipping it is the most common cause of a bat cracking in its first season, and it is not covered by warranty.
Our Houston workshop does it properly. Add Pro Full Knocking to your order and it ships ready to play. Turnaround is 4–6 days.
