The GO Red Leather Cricket Ball is built to be played with, not just bowled at in the nets. At a regulation 156g with a four-piece alum-tanned solid hide construction and a hand-stitched seam, it holds up to club-level match cricket and doubles as a serious training ball between fixtures.

Alum-tanned hide — the reason this one costs more

This is the key difference between our red and white balls. Alum tanning is the traditional process for quality cricket leather: it produces a firm, dense hide that holds its lacquer, keeps a proud seam and resists going soft under repeated impact. Our white training ball isn't alum tanned, which is why it's priced for volume net use and this one is built for match day.

Good enough for match day

The alum-tanned hide and four-piece build mean the ball keeps its shape and a pronounced seam through a full innings, so club sides can use it for actual fixtures rather than reserving it for throwdowns. Bowlers get genuine carry off the pitch and a seam that stays workable deep into a spell.

Regulation weight

MCC Law 4 permits a men's senior ball to weigh between 155.9g and 163g. At 156g, this ball sits at the lighter end of that band — lighter balls tend to swing a little more in the air.

Why red

Red is the traditional choice for longer-format and daytime club cricket. The dark leather shows a batter the seam clearly against a green outfield, and it takes and holds a shine well, so bowlers working on conventional swing get realistic feedback.
